Prog_cafe.kids.safe.gdnFotos at the Bookfair: we have always discouraged people taking fotos inside the event. However this means we have little or no record of previous Bookfairs….So this time we have an official volunteer photographer! Please read:
“This person has been authorised to take photos of the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair by the Bookfair Collective, providing they get full permission of the individuals they wish to photograph or permission by individuals to photograph their merchandise. If you decide that after the photo is taken that you wish it to be deleted than please ask the photographer to delete it. We advise people to hide their identity in pictures, for their own safety. This individual is known to the Collective, if there are any issues, please ask a Bookfair Collective Member, who you can ask for at the Info Point by the main doors.

Bags at the Bookfair: as a small fundraiser we’ll be selling some decent bags at the Infopoint for £5. They’ll feature a key Bookfair image from this year, and will come in 4 colours. Strictly a limited edition, who knows one day they may be as valuable as a Banksy!

FacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmailFacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmail

1stMay_radworkblocfrontwebVarious Bristol anarchists & radicals, including the groups Bristol AFed & SolFed, have issued a call to join a Radical Workers Bloc on this year’s Bristol May Day march & rally, on Sunday 1st of May – International Workers Day!

The Bristol May Day march/rally is organised by Bristol Trade Union Council (BTUC) this year, starts 11.30am at Castle Park – full details here.
(May Day follows the Bristol anarchist bookfair on Saturday 30th April at the Trinity Centre – but we are sure you’ll all be up in time!!!)

Callout: “Calling all Anarchists, rebels, radicals, and workers who are sick of taking shit! Let’s give the 1stMat_radworkblocbackweb2politicians & bosses the Class War they’ve started!

The 1st of May is International Workers Day (brief history + video), it’s a time to come together to commemorate the struggles of the past and push forward the struggles of today.

Join us on Bristol’s May Day march organised by BTUC, just look for the red & black flags on the day. We’re looking for as many people as possible to join us in a surprise action on the day as well.

The Bloc is backed by Bristol Anarchist Federation, and Bristol Solidarity Federation, get in touch if you’d like your group to get involved as well.” FB event.

What is May Day: “Originally a pagan holiday, the roots of the modern May Day bank holiday are in the fight for the eight-hour working day in Chicago in 1886, and the subsequent execution of innocent anarchist workers.” Continue reading 1st of May – Join the Radical Workers Bloc on Bristol May Day march!

This year at the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair, we are looking to have a gallery displaying anarchist artwork, with a PA for those that want to do something more vocal – spoken word, poetry, storytelling etc!

This year’s theme is ‘Building an anarchist future’ – basically what would an anarchist society look like? For example, how would waste be managed, or power produced? What about food and resource distribution? How would an anarchist society treat gender and sexuality, race and abilities? Any work around this theme would be great, but we would also like all your protest art too! Continue reading Psst! Got any anarchist art to display at the Bookfair?
